Possible Causes
Door not fully closed, Misaligned door latch, Faulty door latch switch, Bent door strike on tub frame
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Do not bypass the door switch. The door must close and latch properly for safe operation.
- Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. You should feel a positive latch click. Remove any dishes or utensils that may be protruding and interfering with the seal.
- Inspect door gasket and racks: Ensure the lower and upper racks are fully pushed in and not hitting the door. Check the door gasket for debris or items caught that prevent full closure.
- Check door strike alignment: Look at the metal or plastic strike at the top of the tub opening. It should be centered and straight. If it appears bent, do not force it; a technician should realign or replace it.
- Power reset: Turn off power at the breaker for 2 minutes, restore power, and try starting a cycle with the door firmly closed.
- When to call for service: If dE persists and the door clearly latches, the internal door latch switch assembly or wiring may be faulty and should be tested and replaced by a professional.
