Possible Causes

Clogged drain filter, Blocked drain hose, Obstructed air gap at sink, Failed Cove drain pump

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing filters or the sump area. Water may be hot.

  • Clean filters: Remove the lower rack. Twist and lift out the coarse and fine filters from the bottom of the tub. Rinse thoroughly under warm water and remove any food debris or glass.
  • Check sump area: With filters removed, inspect the sump opening for foreign objects (bones, seeds, labels). Do not reach in if there is broken glass; use pliers or a spoon.
  • Inspect drain hose and air gap: Under the sink, locate the dishwasher drain hose. Ensure it is not kinked. If you have an air gap on the sink deck, remove the cap and clean out any debris.
  • Run a drain test: Reinstall filters, restore power, and start a cancel/drain or quick cycle to see if the unit drains fully.
  • When to call for service: If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent, the drain pump or its wiring may be faulty and should be replaced by a professional.
