Possible Causes

Faulty water level sensor or pressure switch, Stuck water inlet valve, Blocked pressure hose to level sensor, Control board misreading level

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: If you suspect overfilling or leaking, shut off power at the breaker and close the water supply valve immediately.

  • Check for overfill: Open the door carefully. If water level is above the filter screen, use a cup or sponge to remove excess water into a bucket.
  • Inspect detergent use: Excessive suds can mimic overfill. Ensure you are using only dishwasher detergent (no hand soap) and correct amounts.
  • Power and water reset: Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher and the breaker for 5 minutes. Restore power with water still off and start a drain/cancel to clear the tub.
  • Observe refill: Turn water back on and run a short cycle while watching the fill. If water continues to enter when the machine is off or overfills, the inlet valve may be stuck open.
  • When to call for service: Persistent F4 indicates a faulty level sensor, pressure hose, or inlet valve that should be diagnosed and replaced by a professional.
