Possible Causes
Clogged inlet screen on water inlet valve, Failed water inlet valve coil, Low household water pressure or closed supply valve, Faulty float switch stuck in raised position
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher or switch off the breaker, and turn off the water supply before working on the machine.
- Check household water supply: Verify the shutoff valve under the sink is fully open and that other faucets have normal pressure.
- Inspect inlet hose and valve screen: Remove the lower kick plate, locate the water inlet valve where the supply line connects, and shut off the water. Disconnect the hose and clean the small mesh screen inside the valve with a soft brush.
- Test the float and float switch: Open the door and locate the float (usually a small plastic dome or tower in the tub). Move it up and down; it should move freely and click the float switch. If stuck with debris, clean around it. If it does not click or feels loose, the float switch may be faulty.
- Check the inlet valve coil: With power still disconnected, remove the wires from the valve coil and test resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit (infinite resistance) indicates a bad valve that must be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: Reconnect the hose, restore water and power, and run a short cycle to confirm proper filling.
