Possible Causes
Stuck heating relay on control board, Failed temperature sensor reading low, High-limit thermostat not opening, Control board logic failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power immediately if overheating is suspected to prevent damage or fire.
- Inspect heating element operation: After a short run, carefully feel near the bottom of the tub (without touching the element directly). If the heater seems to run continuously, suspect a stuck relay.
- Test temperature sensor: Remove and measure resistance at room temperature and compare to specifications. A sensor reading too low may cause overheating.
- Check high-limit thermostat: Test for continuity at room temperature and after heating (if safely possible). A thermostat that never opens is defective.
- Inspect control board: Look for a welded or burned heater relay on the main control board. If found, replace the board.
- Replace faulty components: Install a new temperature sensor, high-limit thermostat, or control board as indicated by testing.
