Possible Causes

Clogged drain hose or sink connection, Blocked sump or drain filter, Failed drain pump motor, Check valve stuck closed in drain outlet

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher or turn off the breaker. Expect standing water in the tub.

  • Manually remove standing water: Use a cup and towels or a wet/dry vacuum to remove as much water as possible from the tub.
  • Clean filters and sump: Remove the lower rack and spray arm. Take out the coarse and fine filters in the bottom of the tub. Rinse thoroughly and inspect the sump area for food debris, glass, or foreign objects.
  • Inspect drain hose: Follow the drain hose from the dishwasher to the garbage disposal or sink drain. Check for kinks, clogs, or a blocked inlet at the disposal. Clear any obstruction and ensure the knockout plug in a new disposal has been removed.
  • Check drain pump: Access the pump from the bottom front. Disconnect power and wiring, then remove the pump. Inspect the impeller for obstructions and spin it by hand; it should turn freely. If seized or noisy, replace the pump.
  • Verify check valve: Some Crosley models use a rubber flapper check valve at the drain outlet. Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck closed with debris.
  • Reassemble and test: Reinstall components, restore power, and run a drain or rinse cycle to confirm proper operation.
