Possible Causes
Failed circulation pump motor, Jammed impeller due to debris, Open winding in wash motor, Faulty start capacitor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the pump and motor assembly.
- Confirm fill: Start a cycle and listen to ensure the tub fills with water before the error appears. If it fills but does not spray, suspect the circulation pump.
- Access circulation pump: Remove the lower kick plate and tilt or pull the dishwasher out to access the bottom. Locate the larger wash/circulation pump attached to the sump.
- Inspect for obstructions: Remove the pump from the sump (twist-lock or screws). Check the impeller for broken blades, glass, or food debris. Clear any obstruction and ensure the impeller spins freely.
- Test motor windings: With wires removed, measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Compare readings to service documentation if available.
- Check start capacitor (if present): Some Crosley dishwashers use a capacitor mounted near the motor. Inspect for bulging or leakage. Test capacitance with a meter and replace if out of spec.
- Replace faulty pump assembly: If the motor is seized or windings are open, install a new OEM circulation pump assembly, ensuring all seals and clamps are properly seated.
