Possible Causes
Failed temperature sensor (NTC), Loose or corroded sensor connector, Damaged wiring harness to sensor, Control board misreading sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal wiring or sensors.
- Locate temperature sensor: On many Crosley dishwashers, the NTC sensor is mounted in the sump or side of the tub near the heating element.
- Inspect wiring and connector: Check for corrosion, moisture intrusion, or loose pins at the sensor plug. Clean and reseat the connector firmly.
- Test sensor resistance: Remove the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to typical NTC values (often 10k–50k Ω at 25°C). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a failed sensor.
- Check harness continuity: If the sensor tests good, check continuity from the sensor connector back to the control board. Repair any broken or pinched wires.
- Replace sensor if faulty: Install a new OEM temperature sensor, ensuring the sealing grommet is properly seated to prevent leaks.
- Control board consideration: If wiring and sensor are good but E6 persists, the control board may be defective and should be evaluated or replaced by a professional.
