Possible Causes
Stuck heater relay on control board, Faulty NTC temperature sensor reading low, High-limit thermostat not opening, Incorrect wiring causing heater to stay on
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power immediately if you suspect overheating. Allow the unit to cool fully before inspection.
- Check incoming water temperature: Run hot water at the sink and measure temperature. If above 140°F (60°C), lower the water heater setting to prevent dishwasher overheat conditions.
- Inspect NTC sensor: A sensor reading too low can cause the control to overheat the water. Test resistance and replace the Dacor NTC if out of spec.
- Test high-limit thermostat: Verify that the high-limit thermostat opens at the specified temperature. Replace if stuck closed.
- Inspect control board heater relay: Remove the control panel and examine the main board. If the heater relay is welded closed or the board shows burn marks, replace the control board.
- Do not bypass safety devices: Never bypass thermostats or sensors; they are critical for safe operation.
