Possible Causes

Clogged drain hose or air gap, Blocked Dacor drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor, Obstructed sink/disposal inlet where dishwasher hose connects

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Be prepared for water spillage when disconnecting hoses.

  • Check sink and disposal: Run water in the sink and ensure it drains freely. If a new garbage disposal was recently installed, confirm the dishwasher knockout plug was removed.
  • Inspect the air gap (if installed): Remove the air gap cap on the sink and clean out any debris blocking the outlet.
  • Clean the filter and sump: Open the dishwasher, remove the lower rack, and take out the Dacor filter assembly. Rinse thoroughly and inspect the sump area for food, glass, or labels blocking the pump inlet.
  • Check the drain hose: Under the sink, verify the hose is not kinked or crushed. Detach the hose from the sink/disposal and blow through it or flush with water to confirm it is clear.
  • Inspect the drain pump: Access the bottom of the dishwasher, locate the Dacor drain pump, and remove the pump cover or pump itself. Clear any debris from the impeller. If the pump hums but does not turn, or shows open windings on a meter, replace the pump.
