Possible Causes

Stuck or contaminated float switch, Faulty water level sensor or pressure switch, Stuck-open water inlet valve, Control board not shutting off fill

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and close the water supply valve immediately if you suspect overfilling or leaking.

  • Inspect the float assembly: Inside the tub, locate the float (usually a small dome or tower). Lift it up and down; it should move freely and click the switch. Clean any debris, detergent buildup, or foreign objects around it.
  • Test the float switch: With power off, remove the lower kick panel and locate the float switch under the tub. Disconnect the wires and test continuity while manually raising and lowering the float. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
  • Check the inlet valve for sticking: If water continues to enter the dishwasher even with power off, the Dacor water inlet valve is mechanically stuck open and must be replaced.
  • Inspect level/pressure sensor (if equipped): Some Dacor models use an electronic level sensor. Check the small pressure hose for kinks or blockages and ensure it is firmly attached. Replace the sensor if readings are erratic or out of spec.
  • Run a test cycle: After cleaning and replacing faulty parts, restore power and water, then run a short cycle while monitoring the fill level. If E5 recurs, the main control board may be mismanaging fill and should be evaluated by a technician.
