Possible Causes
Low household water pressure, Clogged inlet filter screen at water valve, Defective water inlet valve, Kinked or pinched inlet hose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher or switch off the breaker, and turn off the water supply before working on water connections.
- Check household water supply: Ensure the shutoff valve (usually under the sink) is fully open and that other faucets have normal pressure.
- Inspect inlet hose: Pull the dishwasher out slightly and verify the inlet hose is not kinked, crushed, or twisted. Straighten as needed.
- Clean inlet filter screen: Turn off water, disconnect the inlet hose at the dishwasher end, and remove any small mesh filter screen in the water inlet valve. Rinse debris under running water and reinstall.
- Run a test cycle: Restore power and water, then start a quick cycle to see if the E1 code clears.
- If still failing: The water inlet valve coil may be weak or stuck. Replacement of the water inlet valve assembly is recommended. This typically requires removing the lower kick plate, disconnecting the valve wiring and hoses, and installing a new valve with Teflon tape on threaded fittings.
