Possible Causes
Seized circulation pump, Blocked pump impeller, Failed wash motor capacitor (if used), Defective circulation pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the unit to cool before accessing the base.
- Listen for motor operation: Start a cycle and listen. A humming sound without water movement suggests a jammed or seized pump.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the lower spray arm and filter assembly. Inspect the sump area for broken glass, bones, or debris that could block the circulation pump inlet.
- Access pump: Tilt or pull out the dishwasher to access the bottom. Locate the circulation pump and check for foreign objects around the impeller housing.
- Spin impeller by hand: With power off, gently try to rotate the impeller. If it is locked or very stiff, the pump is likely failed.
- Replace pump assembly: If seized or burned, replace the circulation pump / wash motor assembly. Transfer hoses and clamps carefully and ensure all seals are properly seated.
