Dishwasher shows E9 and will not start or stops shortly after starting.

Safety first: Turn off power before working on the door assembly.

• Check door closure: Ensure the door closes firmly and is not obstructed by racks or large dishes.
• Inspect latch strike: Verify the metal strike on the tub is not bent and aligns properly with the latch on the door.
• Test door switch: With power off, remove the inner door panel to access the latch and switch. Check for broken plastic parts or loose screws.
• Electrical test: Use a multimeter to test the door switch for continuity when the latch is engaged. Replace if it does not close properly.
• Replace latch assembly: If the latch is cracked or worn, install a new door latch / door switch assembly specific to your Danby model.
