Dishwasher makes loud grinding or rattling noise during wash

Safety first: Disconnect power before reaching into the tub or working underneath.

• Check loading: Ensure tall items are not obstructing spray arms. Manually spin the arms to confirm they rotate freely without hitting dishes.
• Inspect sump for debris: Remove filters and look into the sump. Use a flashlight and long-nose pliers to remove any glass, bones, or hard objects.
• Access circulation pump: If noise persists, access the pump from the base and inspect the impeller for damage or trapped debris. Clean thoroughly.
• Assess bearings: Spin the pump shaft by hand; roughness or play indicates worn bearings. Replace the circulation pump if noisy.
• Secure mounts: Check that the dishwasher is firmly fixed to the cabinet and that internal components are not loose.
