Possible Causes

Closed or low-pressure water supply tap, Clogged inlet hose filter at Aquastop, Defective water inlet valve (Aquastop), Faulty flow meter or pressure switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the dishwasher from mains power and close the water supply tap before working on it.

  • Check water supply: Ensure the kitchen water tap feeding the dishwasher is fully open and that household water pressure is normal. Try opening a nearby faucet to confirm good flow.
  • Inspect inlet hose and Aquastop: Pull the dishwasher out slightly, locate the inlet hose (often with an Aquastop safety box at the tap end on De Dietrich models). Close the tap, unscrew the hose, and clean the small mesh filter inside the hose and at the valve connection.
  • Straighten kinks: Make sure the inlet hose is not kinked or crushed behind the machine or under the cabinet.
  • Check for leaks in base: If the base tray has water, the anti-flood device may block filling. Tilt the machine slightly forward (with towels ready) to see if water drains from the base. If water comes out, dry the base and inspect for leaks before reuse.
  • Test fill again: Reconnect the hose, open the tap fully, restore power, and run a short program. If E1 returns, the inlet valve, flow meter, or pressure switch may be faulty and should be tested with a multimeter and replaced if defective.
