Possible Causes
Defective tachometer on circulation pump, Blocked pump causing overload, Wiring fault between pump and control board, Faulty control board speed sensing circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains before accessing the pump or control board.
- Inspect circulation pump: Access the pump and check for obstructions in the impeller area. Remove any debris.
- Check tachometer connector: Many pumps have a small tachometer connector separate from the power leads. Ensure it is firmly connected and not corroded.
- Test tachometer: Using a multimeter, measure the tachometer output while manually spinning the impeller (technician level). Replace the circulation pump if no signal is generated.
- Inspect wiring and board: Trace the tachometer wires to the control board and check for continuity. If wiring is intact and the pump is good, the control board may be defective and require replacement.
