Possible Causes
Clogged drain filter or sump, Blocked or kinked drain hose, Obstructed air gap or garbage disposal inlet, Failed drain pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before working under the unit. Water may be dirty; wear gloves.
- Remove standing water: Use a cup or sponge to remove as much water from the tub as possible.
- Clean filters and sump: Remove the lower rack and filters. Clear any food debris or foreign objects from the sump area.
- Inspect drain hose: Check the hose under the sink and behind the dishwasher for kinks or clogs. Detach from the sink/disposal and flush with water.
- Check air gap/disposal: Clean the air gap if present. Ensure the disposal inlet is clear and the knockout plug was removed at installation.
- Test drain pump: Start a cancel/drain cycle. If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent, the pump may be failed and should be replaced.
