Possible Causes
Mechanically jammed inlet valve, Debris in valve seat, Faulty Aquastop hose, Control board keeping valve energized
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately close the water supply valve and disconnect power to prevent flooding.
- Observe water behavior: With power off and water supply on, check if water still enters the tub. If so, the inlet valve or Aquastop is mechanically stuck open.
- Inspect inlet valve: Remove the toe-kick panel and locate the inlet valve. Disconnect the inlet hose and outlet hose. Check for debris in the valve screen and seat. Replace the valve if it leaks when de-energized.
- Aquastop hose: If your model uses an Aquastop safety hose, inspect it for activation or internal failure. Replace the entire hose assembly if suspect.
- Control board check: If water only flows when power is on, the control may be energizing the valve at the wrong time. Verify with a multimeter and replace the control board if it outputs voltage when it should not.
Do not leave the water supply open until the cause of E16 is fully corrected.
