Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.

Check detergent dispenser: Open the door and inspect the dispenser lid and spring. Ensure it opens and closes freely and is not obstructed by large dishes.
Auxiliary valve: Access the side or base of the dishwasher to locate any auxiliary valves controlling softener or rinse aid. Test coil resistance and replace if open or shorted.
Wiring inspection: Verify that all connectors to the dispenser and auxiliary valves are secure and undamaged.
Control board: If components test good but are not being energized, the control board output may be faulty and require replacement.

After repair, run a cycle and confirm proper detergent release and softener operation.
