Possible Causes

Leaking sump or hose causing water in base tray, Stuck or faulty water level pressure switch, Defective inlet valve not closing fully, Blocked overflow tube or air trap

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and turn off the water supply. Be prepared for water spillage when tilting the appliance.

  • Check for leaks: Pull the dishwasher out of the cabinet. Tilt it slightly backward and to the side to see if water drains from the base pan. If water flows out and E4 clears temporarily, a leak is present.
  • Inspect base pan and float switch: Remove the bottom cover to access the base tray. Look for water and check the anti-flood float switch (often a styrofoam or plastic float with a microswitch). Dry the area completely and ensure the float moves freely and is not stuck in the up position.
  • Identify leak source: Run a short cycle while observing the underside. Check the sump gasket, circulation pump seal, drain hose, and inlet hose for drips. Tighten clamps or replace cracked hoses and seals as needed.
  • Check inlet valve and pressure switch: If the tub visibly overfills, the inlet valve may be stuck open or the pressure switch/air trap blocked. Inspect the pressure hose for kinks or blockages. Replace the inlet valve if it continues to pass water when de-energized.

Do not continue using the dishwasher until the leak and overflow condition are fully resolved to avoid water damage.
