Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC sensor in sump, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Corroded connector at sensor, Control board misreading sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the dishwasher to cool completely.
- Locate NTC sensor: The NTC is typically mounted in the sump or integrated into the heater housing. Access from underneath after removing the bottom cover.
- Inspect connections: Check the sensor connector for corrosion or moisture. Clean and dry thoroughly, then reseat the connector firmly.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the NTC and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to service specifications (commonly 10–50 kΩ). If reading is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the NTC sensor.
- Check harness: Trace the wiring from the NTC to the control board for cuts, pinches, or burn marks. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
If E9 persists with a known-good sensor and wiring, the main control board may be defective and should be evaluated by a professional.
