Dishwasher stops shortly after starting, display shows E02 and cycle will not continue.

Safety warning: Switch off the circuit breaker and ensure the dishwasher is de-energized before removing any panels.

Troubleshooting steps:

• Reset appliance: Turn off power for 5–10 minutes, then restore power and try to start a basic program. Sometimes transient communication faults clear with a reset.
• Inspect control panel: Open the door and remove the screws around the inner door to separate the inner and outer door skins. Carefully lift off the outer panel to access the user interface (UI) board.
• Check ribbon cable: Locate the flat ribbon cable or harness between the UI and the main control module. Ensure it is fully seated at both ends and not pinched or damaged. Reseat connectors.
• Look for moisture or corrosion: Any signs of condensation or water on the UI or connectors can cause E02. Dry the area thoroughly and correct any door seal issues that may be allowing steam into the control area.
• Replace UI or main control: If wiring is intact and dry but E02 persists, the UI board or main control may be defective. Replace the UI first (often the more common failure), then the main control if needed, using genuine Gaggenau parts matched to the E-Nr and FD numbers.

Note: Incorrect handling of the door panel can damage the decorative front. Support the panel while removing screws.
