Possible Causes
Defective flow meter in water inlet system, blocked water softener or inlet channel, wiring issue to flow sensor, faulty control interpretation of flow pulses
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and close the water tap before working on the water inlet system.
Steps:
- Check water supply: Ensure the water tap is fully open and the supply hose is not kinked. Low pressure can cause flow meter errors.
- Clean inlet filter: Close the tap, disconnect the AquaStop or inlet hose from the tap, and clean the small mesh filter inside the hose connection.
- Inspect AquaStop / inlet valve: Many Gaggenau dishwashers use an AquaStop safety valve integrated in the hose. Check for buzzing or clicking when the machine tries to fill. If silent and E04 appears, the valve or flow meter may be faulty.
- Access flow meter: On many models, the flow meter is integrated in the side water matrix or inlet assembly. Remove the side panel to inspect for blockages, scale buildup, or damaged wiring.
- Check wiring: Verify the harness from the flow meter to the control module is intact and firmly connected.
- Replace flow meter or inlet assembly: If cleaning and wiring checks do not resolve the issue, replace the flow meter or the complete water inlet / water matrix assembly with the correct Gaggenau part.
Note: After replacing water system components, run a full cycle and check for leaks.
