Possible Causes
Defective door latch switch, misaligned door catch, broken latch mechanism, wiring fault between door lock and control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before working on the door assembly.
Steps:
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes firmly and is not obstructed by dishes or the lower rack. The door should latch with a solid click.
- Inspect door strike: Examine the metal or plastic strike on the tub frame. If bent or loose, adjust or tighten it so it aligns with the latch.
- Test door switch: With power off, remove the inner door panel to access the door lock assembly. Use a multimeter to test continuity of the door switch when the latch is engaged. No continuity indicates a faulty switch.
- Check wiring harness: Inspect the harness from the door lock to the control module for broken wires, especially where it flexes at the top of the door.
- Replace door lock assembly: If the switch or latch is defective, replace the complete door lock assembly with the correct Gaggenau part. Ensure it is mounted securely and aligned with the strike.
Note: Do not bypass the door switch; it is a critical safety device.
