Possible Causes

Low household water pressure, Clogged inlet screen on water valve, Failing water inlet valve, Kinked fill hose

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power and close the dishwasher water supply valve (usually under the sink).

  • Check household water supply: Ensure the shutoff valve is fully open. Test water pressure at the sink; very low pressure can cause C4.
  • Inspect the fill hose: Look for kinks or sharp bends in the braided or copper line feeding the dishwasher. Straighten or reroute as needed.
  • Clean inlet screen: Remove the lower kick plate and locate the water inlet valve where the fill hose connects. Turn off water, disconnect the hose, and inspect the small screen inside the valve inlet. Clean sediment with a brush and water.
  • Test the water inlet valve: If cleaning the screen does not help and the dishwasher still fills slowly or not at all, the solenoid valve may be weak. Replace the water inlet valve assembly.
  • Run a test cycle: Restore water and power, then run a quick cycle to confirm proper fill within the first few minutes.
