Possible Causes
Failed thermistor, Loose or corroded thermistor connector, Damaged wiring harness, Faulty control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing internal components.
- Locate the thermistor: On GE dishwashers, the thermistor is typically mounted in the sump or side of the tub bottom. Refer to your model's diagram if needed.
- Inspect wiring and connector: Check for corrosion, loose pins, or damaged insulation. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Test thermistor resistance: Disconnect the thermistor and measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature. Compare to GE specifications (commonly in the 10–50 kΩ range depending on design). If readings are open, shorted, or far out of spec, replace the thermistor.
- Check continuity to control board: If the thermistor tests good, check the harness from the thermistor to the main control board for continuity and shorts.
- Replace control board if necessary: If wiring and thermistor are good but C7 remains, the control board's sensor circuit may be defective.
