Possible Causes

Water leak into base pan, Faulty float switch, Loose hose clamp, Cracked sump or tub

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power and water supply immediately to prevent further leakage and electrical hazards.

  • Pull out the dishwasher: Carefully slide the unit out from under the counter. Place towels or a shallow pan under the base.
  • Inspect base pan: Many GE dishwashers have a float or sensor in the base pan that detects leaks. If water is present, sponge it out completely and dry the area.
  • Identify leak source: Run a short fill cycle while observing underneath. Check the inlet valve, circulation pump, drain pump, sump gasket, and hoses for drips.
  • Tighten or replace components: Tighten loose hose clamps. Replace cracked hoses, leaking pumps, or a damaged sump assembly as needed.
  • Reset leak sensor: Once the base is dry and the leak is repaired, restore power and run a full cycle to confirm no further leaks and that the LE code clears.
