Possible Causes

Partially closed water supply valve, Clogged inlet screen on GE Café water inlet valve, Kinked or restricted fill hose, Faulty water inlet valve coil

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing internal components. Turn off the water supply under the sink.

  • Verify water supply: Confirm the shutoff valve under the sink is fully open. If it is a saddle valve, consider replacing it with a full-port valve for better flow.
  • Inspect fill hose: Look under the sink and behind the dishwasher for kinks or sharp bends in the braided or copper supply line. Straighten or reroute as needed.
  • Clean inlet valve screen: Remove the toe-kick panel. Locate the water inlet valve where the supply line connects. Turn off water, disconnect the supply line, and inspect the valve's inlet screen for sediment. Clean gently with a small brush and rinse.
  • Check fill level: Restore water and power. Start a cycle and let the dishwasher fill. After filling stops, open the door: water should cover the sump area and be just below the bottom of the door opening. If water level is low, the inlet valve may be weak.
  • Replace inlet valve if needed: If the valve hums but does not allow enough water, or if the coil tests open with a multimeter, replace the GE Café water inlet valve assembly.
