Possible Causes
Clogged filters and sump, Blocked spray arm jets, Debris in circulation pump impeller, Weak or failing wash circulation pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing. Allow the dishwasher to cool if recently used.
- Clean filters: Remove the lower rack. Twist and lift out the fine and coarse filters. Rinse under warm water and scrub off grease and debris. Ensure the mesh is fully clear.
- Inspect sump area: Look down into the sump for seeds, glass, or labels. Remove any obstructions that could restrict water flow to the circulation pump.
- Clean spray arms: Remove lower and upper spray arms (they typically twist or unclip). Rinse under water and use a toothpick to clear each jet hole. Ensure the arms spin freely when reinstalled.
- Check circulation pump: Access the underside of the dishwasher and locate the wash circulation pump on the sump. With power off, remove the pump cover if accessible and check for debris in the impeller. If the impeller is damaged or the pump is noisy and weak during operation, replacement is recommended.
- Run a cleaning cycle: Run a hot cycle with a dishwasher cleaner to remove internal scale and grease that can affect pump performance.
