Possible Causes
Misaligned door latch strike, Worn or broken door latch assembly, Faulty door switch, Loose wiring between latch and main control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the inner door panel or working on wiring.
- Check door closure: Close the door firmly and listen for a solid latch click. If the door feels loose or does not latch, inspect the latch and strike.
- Inspect latch strike: The strike is mounted on the tub frame. Ensure it is not bent and that screws are tight. Adjust slightly if the latch does not engage fully.
- Examine door latch assembly: Remove the inner door panel to access the latch. Look for broken plastic, worn hooks, or misalignment. Replace the GE Café door latch assembly if damaged.
- Check wiring: Verify the harness connector to the latch is fully seated and wires are not pinched or broken.
- Reset and test: Restore power and start a cycle. If F1 persists after latch replacement, the main control board input circuit may be faulty.
