Possible Causes
Moisture intrusion into control panel, Faulty touchpad or UI board, Loose ribbon cable between UI and main control, Main control board communication fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the control panel or door screws.
- Dry the control area: If the panel recently got wet (steam, cleaning spray), leave the door open and allow it to dry for several hours. Do not spray cleaners directly on the panel.
- Power reset: Turn off the breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power to reset the electronics.
- Inspect UI connections: Remove the inner door panel to access the user interface board. Check the ribbon cable and connectors between the UI and main control. Reseat all connectors.
- Check for corrosion: Look for signs of moisture damage or corrosion on the UI board. If present, replace the GE Café user interface control.
- Control board: If a known-good UI still results in F2, the main control board may be defective and require replacement.
