Possible Causes

Open or shorted thermistor in sump, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty main control board interpreting sensor signal incorrectly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing the sump or wiring.

  • Locate thermistor: Remove the lower rack and filters. The thermistor is typically mounted in the sump wall or base on GE Café models.
  • Inspect wiring: From underneath, locate the thermistor connector and harness. Check for pinched, cut, or corroded wires. Repair as needed.
  • Test thermistor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to GE specifications. If reading is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the thermistor.
  • Control board check: If a new thermistor does not clear F3, the main control board may be faulty and should be replaced.
