Possible Causes
Clogged drain hose or air gap, Obstructed drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor, Faulty main control board drain relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and be prepared for water spillage when disconnecting hoses.
- Check external drain path: Inspect the air gap and sink/disposer connection for clogs. Clear any debris and ensure the disposer knockout plug has been removed.
- Inspect drain hose: Detach the hose at the sink/disposer and flush with hot water. Look for kinks or crushed sections behind the dishwasher.
- Access drain pump: Remove the toe-kick and tilt or pull the dishwasher out slightly. Locate the drain pump on the sump. Remove the pump and check for debris in the impeller housing.
- Test pump: With a multimeter, check pump motor resistance. If open or if the pump hums but does not spin when powered, replace the GE Café drain pump.
- Control board: If a known-good pump does not receive power during drain, the main control board may be defective.
