Possible Causes
Seized circulation pump motor, Debris in pump impeller, Failed motor capacitor (if equipped), Faulty main control not powering pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and turn off water before pulling the dishwasher out.
- Listen for pump operation: Start a cycle and listen during the wash phase. A loud hum with no water spray indicates a stuck or failed pump.
- Inspect sump for debris: Remove filters and check for objects that could jam the impeller.
- Access circulation pump: Pull the dishwasher out and locate the main wash pump on the sump. Remove the pump and inspect the impeller for damage or obstructions.
- Test motor: Check motor windings for continuity. If open or if the motor is mechanically seized, replace the GE Café circulation pump assembly.
- Control board: If the pump is good but never receives power, the main control board may be defective.
