Possible Causes

Seized circulation pump motor, Debris jammed in pump impeller, Open motor winding, Failed main control board motor relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power and water before accessing the bottom of the dishwasher. Water inside may be hot.

Steps:

  • 1. Confirm fill: Start a cycle and open the door after a minute to ensure the tub has water.
  • 2. Listen for pump: Close the door and listen. A loud hum with no water movement suggests a jammed or failed pump.
  • 3. Clean sump: Remove lower rack and filters; inspect sump for debris that could block the pump inlet.
  • 4. Access circulation pump: From underneath, locate the main wash pump. Check for obstructions at the impeller and ensure wiring is secure.
  • 5. Replace pump: If the motor is seized or windings are open, replace the circulation pump assembly with a GE Profile–compatible part.

If a new pump does not restore washing, the control board may not be sending power and should be tested by a technician.
