Dishwasher stops mid-cycle and displays C2; unit may have standing water in the tub.

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker and close the water supply valve before servicing.

Steps to resolve:

• 1. Remove standing water: Use a cup or sponge to bail out most of the water so you can see the sump area clearly.
• 2. Clean filters and sump: Remove the lower rack and filters. Rinse filters under hot water. Inspect the sump opening for debris (bones, glass, labels). Remove obstructions carefully.
• 3. Verify drain hose routing: Ensure the hose has a high loop under the counter and is not pinched behind the dishwasher. A sagging hose can trap debris and slow draining.
• 4. Check hose and sink connection: Disconnect the hose at the sink/disposal and run water through it. Clean the disposal inlet or branch tailpiece fitting if restricted.
• 5. Evaluate drain pump performance: Restore power briefly and start a drain-only or cancel/drain function. Listen for the pump: a loud hum with little water movement suggests a failing pump. Turn power back off before touching anything inside.
• 6. Inspect wiring to pump: With power off, check the harness connector at the drain pump for corrosion or loose pins. Reseat the connector.

If C2 persists after clearing all obstructions, replacing the drain pump is usually required. In rare cases, the main control board may mis-time the drain and need replacement by a technician.
