Possible Causes

Leak into base pan triggering float switch, Loose hose clamp on circulation or drain hose, Cracked sump or tub, Faulty flood float switch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker and shut off water supply immediately to prevent further leaking.

Dry and inspect:

  • 1. Pull the dishwasher out: Remove the toe-kick panel. Carefully slide the unit out from under the counter to access the base pan.
  • 2. Check for water in the base: Use towels or a wet/dry vacuum to remove any water from the bottom pan. Locate the float switch (often a small plastic float or sensor in the base).
  • 3. Inspect hoses and clamps: Look at the circulation pump outlet hose, drain hose, and inlet valve connections for drips or mineral trails. Tighten loose clamps and replace cracked hoses.
  • 4. Examine sump and tub: Inspect around the sump assembly and door area for signs of leakage. Check the door gasket and bottom door seal for tears or deformation.
  • 5. Test float switch: With power still OFF, gently move the float up and down. It should move freely. If stuck or damaged, it may need replacement.
  • 6. Reassemble and test: After drying the base completely and correcting any leaks, restore power and run a short cycle while observing for new leaks.

Important: If you find a cracked tub or sump housing, replacement is complex and often best handled by a professional technician.
