Possible Causes
Moisture in control panel, Failed touchpad or UI board, Loose ribbon cable between UI and main control, Damaged control panel overlay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the control panel.
Steps:
- 1. Power reset: Turn off the breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power to see if the error clears.
- 2. Inspect for moisture: Check the front panel for condensation or water intrusion, especially if the kitchen is humid. Allow the panel to dry completely.
- 3. Access UI board: Remove the inner door panel screws and carefully separate the control panel. Inspect the ribbon cable and connectors between the UI and main control board.
- 4. Reseat connectors: Disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable to ensure a solid connection. Look for corrosion or damage.
- 5. Replace UI board if needed: If certain buttons do not respond or the error persists, replace the user interface board or touchpad assembly specific to your GE Profile model.
If E2 remains after UI replacement, the main control board may be at fault and should be diagnosed by a technician.
