Possible Causes

Partially blocked inlet system or side water matrix, Blocked circulation pump inlet, Air in hydraulic system, Faulty circulation pump speed feedback

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water tap before removing side panels or base covers.

  • Check water level: Start a program and, after filling, open the door briefly (cancel power first). The water level should be just below the bottom of the door. If it is very low, suspect an intake restriction.
  • Clean filters and sump: Remove and clean all filters and the sump area to ensure unrestricted water flow to the pump.
  • Inspect side water matrix: Remove the left side panel and inspect the water matrix/softener for heavy limescale or sludge. Flush with hot water and descaler if channels appear restricted.
  • Bleed air from system: After reassembly, run a rinse program and allow the machine to fill and pump for a few minutes. Interrupt and restart once to help purge air from the circulation system.
  • Check circulation pump inlet: From the base, inspect the hose between the sump and circulation pump for kinks or blockages. Remove and flush if necessary.
  • Advanced diagnostics: Some Grundig models monitor pump speed. If the pump is noisy, weak, or intermittently stops, the circulation pump may be failing and should be replaced.
