Possible Causes

Defective water inlet valve stuck open, Debris in inlet valve seat, Control board not closing valve, Wiring short causing valve to stay energized

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately close the water tap and disconnect power to prevent flooding.

  • Observe water behavior: With power off and the water tap open, check if water continues to flow into the tub. If it does, the inlet valve is mechanically stuck open.
  • Inspect inlet valve: Remove the lower front panel and locate the inlet valve. Disconnect the inlet hose and outlet hose (have a tray ready). Check for debris in the valve screen and seat; flush with water.
  • Electrical check: Ensure the valve is not receiving voltage when the machine is off. If it is, suspect a control board fault or wiring short.
  • Replace valve if necessary: If water flows through the valve when unpowered, replace the water inlet valve with a Grundig-compatible part.
  • Control board diagnosis: If the valve is good but remains energized at the wrong time, the main control board may have a stuck relay and will need replacement.
  • Reassemble and test: Reconnect hoses, open the water tap, restore power, and run a short cycle to confirm normal filling and that E16 is cleared.
