Possible Causes
Defective regeneration valve coil, Blocked regeneration channel, Wiring fault to softener valve, Control board output failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water tap before removing side panels.
- Check salt system: Ensure the salt reservoir is filled and free of hardened salt bridges.
- Access regeneration valve: Remove the left side panel to locate the small regeneration valve on the water softener assembly. Inspect for salt deposits or blockages around the valve.
- Clean and inspect: Gently clean the valve area and ensure the plunger is not stuck by salt crystals.
- Electrical test: With a multimeter, measure the coil resistance of the regeneration valve. An open circuit indicates a failed valve that must be replaced.
- Check wiring: Ensure the connector is secure and wires are not damaged.
- Replace valve if necessary: Install a new Grundig-compatible regeneration valve and reassemble.
