Possible Causes
Burnt-out drain pump motor, Loose or corroded pump connector, Broken wiring harness to pump, Faulty control board pump relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and be prepared for water in the tub and base.
- Manual draining: Remove as much water as possible from the tub with a container or sponge.
- Access drain pump: Lay the dishwasher on its back and remove the base cover. Locate the drain pump.
- Check connector and wiring: Ensure the pump connector is firmly attached and wires are intact. Repair any damaged wiring.
- Electrical test: With a multimeter, measure the pump winding resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed pump that must be replaced.
- Control board check: If the pump tests good but never receives voltage during a drain command, the control board or relay may be faulty and require replacement.
- Replace pump if necessary: Twist and remove the pump from the sump, transfer any seals, and install a new Grundig-compatible drain pump.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the base, restore power and water, and run a drain program to confirm that E23 is cleared.
