Dishwasher displays E2 and stops; water remains in the tub and the unit does not drain properly.

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker and avoid contact with standing water that may be energized.

• 1. Check sink and disposer: Run water in the sink and verify it drains quickly. If you recently installed a garbage disposer, ensure the dishwasher knockout plug was removed from the disposer inlet.
• 2. Inspect the drain hose: Locate the drain hose under the sink. Remove it from the sink tailpiece or disposer and check for food debris or grease clogs. Flush the hose with hot water and, if needed, a flexible brush.
• 3. Clean the filter and sump: Open the dishwasher, remove the lower rack, and take out the bottom filter assembly. Rinse the fine and coarse filters and inspect the sump area for glass, bones, or labels blocking the pump inlet.
• 4. Check the drain pump: Access the bottom of the dishwasher (tilt or remove toe-kick). Disconnect the drain pump from the sump and inspect the impeller for obstructions. Ensure the impeller spins freely. If the pump hums but does not turn, it may be seized.
• 5. Test operation: Reassemble, restore power, and run a drain or cancel cycle. If E2 persists and the pump does not run or is very noisy, replace the Haier drain pump assembly.

Warning: Always mop up spills immediately and do not run the dishwasher with panels removed.
