Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC temperature sensor, Loose or corroded NTC connector, Damaged wiring harness to sensor, Faulty main control board temperature circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the sump or base of the dishwasher.
- 1. Locate the NTC sensor: The Haier NTC is usually mounted in the sump or base of the tub. Access it from inside the tub (through the filter area) or from underneath, depending on model.
- 2. Inspect wiring: Check the sensor connector and harness for damage, moisture intrusion, or corrosion. Dry and clean as needed.
- 3. Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to Haier specifications (commonly in the tens of kΩ). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
- 4. Replace sensor: If readings are out of range, install a new NTC sensor. Ensure the sealing grommet is properly seated to prevent leaks.
- 5. Control board check: If a known-good sensor still triggers E8, the main PCB may have a defective temperature input circuit and require replacement.
Warning: Always ensure watertight seals when working on components that penetrate the tub.
