Safety first: Disconnect power and support the hood securely before working on the lift mechanism.

• Check hood movement: Manually move the hood (if allowed by design) to feel for binding or obstructions in the guides.
• Inspect chains/linkages: Access the lift mechanism and look for broken chains, loose pins, or bent linkages. Lubricate pivot points lightly if dry.
• Verify position switches: Locate upper and lower hood position switches. Ensure actuators are contacting correctly and switches are not stuck.
• Test lift motor: With qualified personnel, test for power at the lift motor when a lift command is given. Replace the motor if it does not run with proper voltage.
• Control diagnosis: If mechanical parts are free and the motor is good, the lift control relay or PCB may be faulty and should be serviced by Hobart.
