Possible Causes
Open circuit tank NTC probe, Shorted tank NTC probe, Damaged wiring harness between NTC and control board, Faulty main control board analog input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal wiring or probes.
- Identify which probe: On some Hoonved models, E6 refers to the tank NTC; consult the technical label or manual. The probe is usually screwed into the tank wall or mounted in a pocket.
- Inspect wiring: Trace the two-core cable from the NTC to the main PCB. Look for cuts, crushed insulation, or corroded connectors. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Test NTC resistance: Remove the probe connector and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare with Hoonved specifications (commonly 10kΩ or similar at 25°C). Infinite or near-zero resistance indicates a faulty probe.
- Check for moisture ingress: If the probe body is cracked or wet inside, replace it. Moisture can cause erratic readings.
- Board check: If the probe and wiring are good but E6 persists, the main control board input may be defective. Board replacement is typically required and should be done by a professional.
