Possible Causes
Blocked circulation pump impeller, Failed circulation motor, Seized pump bearings, Loose pump wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and water. Allow the machine to cool before working near the heater/pump assembly.
- Check for obstructions: Remove both spray arms and inspect for blockages in the jets. Clean under running water with a toothpick if needed.
- Inspect sump area: Remove filters and look into the sump. Remove any foreign objects that could jam the circulation pump (glass, bones, plastic).
- Listen to the pump: Start a cycle and listen. A loud humming without water movement suggests a jammed or failed pump.
- Access circulation pump: Lay the dishwasher on its back and remove the base panel. Locate the large wash pump attached to the sump and heater.
- Check impeller and wiring: Disconnect power leads and hose clamps. Inspect the impeller for damage or obstructions. Spin it by hand; it should turn freely. Check wiring connectors for burning or looseness.
- Replace pump if faulty: If the motor is seized or open-circuit on a resistance test, replace the complete circulation pump assembly with a Hoover-compatible unit.
- Reassemble and test: Refit hoses and clamps securely to avoid leaks, reinstall the base, stand the machine upright, and run a test wash.
