How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and be prepared for water when disconnecting hoses.
- Run a drain-only cycle: If available, select a drain or cancel function and listen to the pump. Weak or intermittent sound suggests pump wear.
- Clean filters and sump: Remove and clean all filters. Check the sump area for debris that could intermittently block the pump inlet.
- Inspect external plumbing: Detach the drain hose from the sink trap or air gap. Clean out grease and food build-up. Flush the hose with hot water.
- Check hose height and routing: Ensure the drain hose is installed at the correct height per Hoover instructions to prevent backflow.
