Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dishwasher or switch off the circuit breaker, and turn off the water supply tap before working on the appliance.
- Check for water in the base: Pull the dishwasher out from under the counter if possible. Remove the lower kick plate and inspect the base pan with a torch. If you see water, the anti-flood float switch has likely been triggered.
- Dry the base pan: Carefully tilt the dishwasher slightly backward and to one side over towels or a shallow tray to drain water from the base. Use a sponge or cloth to remove remaining water. Allow the base to dry fully (you can use a fan or gentle hairdryer on cool).
- Inspect for obvious leaks: With the side panels removed (if accessible), visually inspect around the circulation pump and motor assembly, inlet valve and fill hose, drain hose connections, and the door gasket for signs of drips, mineral trails, or wetness.
- Tighten and reseat hoses: Check the clamp on the drain hose at the sump and at the sink connection. Tighten any loose clamps and ensure hoses are not cracked or kinked.
- Check door seal: Inspect the rubber door gasket for tears, deformation, or heavy buildup. Clean it with warm soapy water and replace if damaged.
- Test for leaks: Restore power and water, run a short cycle while observing the machine (side panel off if possible). If you see water leaking from a specific component (e.g. circulation pump seal), that part will need replacement.
If water reappears in the base or you cannot locate the leak, stop using the dishwasher and contact a qualified technician.
